THE PLOT:

In agreement with the elder Gods, it is once again time for Mortal Kombat. A marital arts compitition in which the Earth Realm goes up againt Outworld. If the Earth Realm loses 7 Mortal Kombats in a row then Outworld will conquer the Earth. But with the help of their new Champion Prince Goro, Outworld has won six in a row, now it's up to the new generation to kick some ass and save the Earth. The Earthling chosen is Liu Kang, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade.

But the evil Shang Tsung is one mean villian and steals the souls of defeated opponents. So it's do or die in Mortal Kombat.

ZEDD'S OPINION:

Up to this point movies based on video games were a real let down, all kind of stupid changes. SUPER MARIO BROTHERS and STREET FIGHTER are two good examples of poor adaptations of the genre. All huge budgets, all big let downs. SUPER MARIO BROTHERS more then STREET FIGHTER. Anway, This is the first video game movie to stay fateful to the source material. Even though they seem to combine elements from the first and second games. Shang Tsung was an old man in the first game and granted youth in the second game. But I can forgive that minor change. Also, the costumes was perfect, Scorpion is one of my favorite evil characters, he is like soooo cool. Anyway, I must say that nothing is more perfect. Did I mention I love the video game. So I was a hard critic, it had a lot to live up to which it does in spades. I give it a 10 out of 10 STARS.

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I agree for that Zedd said for the most part. Particarly the changes and the other video game movies. Stick to wha works, if you want to creative, then write something new or be creative in the area of the story, no changes. That's what screws things up. Anyway, I did miss Katana's sword fans in this one. Those are two elegent killing devices, worthy of a Princess. I give it...9 STARS out of 10.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ CHARACTERS (All the characters from the first game are there.)
+ COSTUMES (Most of the costumes are perfect.)
+CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT (Christopher Lambert is perfect as Rayden.)
+ FIGHT (The fight scenes are cool.)
+ POWERS (Even the humans had their chi powers.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- CHANGES (They changes might be minor, but they are noticable.)
- MISSING PROPS (Rayden's metal hat and Katana's sword fans were missing in this movie.)

...AND FINALLY...

- FAN BASED (If you aren't big on the Mortal Kombat games, then you'll hate the movie.)
